چکیده

We show that ultrafast surface science studies using the laser-assisted photoelectric effect can benefit from longer-wavelength infrared dressing beams. We compare soft-x-ray photoemission from a Pt 111 surface dressed by 1300 and 780 nm light. Using 1300 nm light, the amplitude of the laser-assisted photoelectric signal is enhanced sevenfold compared with 780 nm. This allows lower dressing laser intensity to be used, which dramatically suppresses undesirable processes such as above-threshold photoemission, desorption, and distortion of the photoemission spectrum due to space charge. This work enables ultrafast studies of surfaceadsorbate systems and attosecond electron dynamics over a wider energy range.

Effect of Conventional in-Office Bleaching and Laser Assisted Bleaching at Two Different Wavelengths on Color Stability of Glass-Ionomers

Background and Aim: Bleaching can improve the color of restorative materials and resolve problems related to discoloration or color mismatch. This study evaluated the effect of in-office bleaching method in conjunction with two different laser wavelengths on color change of two types of glass-ionomer restorative materials (light-cure and self-cure). Materials and Methods: In this experimenta...

Influence of Interface Thermal Resistance on Relaxation Dynamics of Metal-Dielectric Nanocomposite Materials under Ultrafast Pulse Laser Excitation

Nanocomposite materials, including noble metal nanoparticles embedded in a dielectric host medium, are interesting because of their optical properties linked to surface plasmon resonance phenomena. For studding of nonlinear optical properties and/or energy transfer process, these materials may be excited by ultrashort pulse laser with a temporal width varying from some femtoseconds to some hund...

Suppression of Four Wave Mixing Based on the Pairing Combinations of Differently Linear-Polarized Optical Signals in WDM System

Data transmission in optical systems and increased transmission distance capacity benefit by using optical amplification wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology. The combination of four waves (FWM) is a non-linear effect in the wavelength division multiplex (WDM), when more than two wavelengths of light in a fiber launch will occur. FWM amount depends on the channel, the channel spaci...

The Electron Stopper Layer Effect on Long-Wavelength VCSEL with AsSb-Based DBR Temperature Distribution

In this study, we have theoretically investigated the effect of electron stopper layer on internal temperature distribution of high performance vertical cavity surface-emitting laser emitting at 1305 nm. Simulation software PICS3D, which self-consistently combines the 3D simulation of carrier transport, self-heating, gain computation and wave-guiding, was used. Simulation results show that chan...

Time-resolved IR laser-assisted XUV photoelectron spectroscopy of metal surfaces

Photoemission of localized and delocalized electrons from an (adsorbate-covered) metal surface by an XUV pulse of length τX into the field of a delayed IR laser pulse with carrier period TL allows for the time-resolved observation of surface and adsorbate electronic processes. For τX ¿ TL, the energy of the emitted photoelectrons (PEs) oscillates with period TL as a function of the XUV-IR pulse...
